MANILA – There is no connivance between the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and the Liberal Party to oust President Duterte, said Prof. Jose Maria Sison, CPP founder and National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) chief political consultant, following Duterte’s one-on-one interview with Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Sison said Duterte is a “congenital liar and an incorrigible political swindler.” He challenged Duterte to present publicly what he claimed as a “conversation provided by a foreign country” sympathetic to the government.
“There has never been any discussion between me or the CPP with Trillanes or the Liberal Party about ousting Duterte from power,” said Sison in his statement.
Duterte insisted during his interview with Panelo that there is a connivance between the three to overthrow him from power.
Both Sison and Trillanes, in separate statements to the media, denied Duterte’s allegations.
“The moment of ouster will occur when Duterte´s own military and police forces withdraw support from Duterte upon the sight and inspiration of the rising people in their millions throughput the archipelago,” Sison said.
“Duterte is now worried to death and so desperate as to imagine that he would be ousted this coming October,” he added.
But for the youth sector, there is no need to create a destabilization plot against Duterte as he is doing it for himself by “killing the poor through tyranny and starvation.”
“Duterte’s paranoid tirades about alleged alliances and oust plots are just pathetic attempts to distract the Filipino people from pressing issues, first and foremost the empty bellies of millions of Filipino, “ Einstein Recedes said in a statement.
Recedes said the people have many reasons to demand his ouster. He cited the Oplan Tokhang and arrest of bystanders (tambay). He said the Duterte administration continues to slaughter the poor and deny them due process; its policies result in soaring inflation; and it blatantly persecutes and harasses critics and the opposition.
“These actions by Duterte are inspiring thousands upon thousands of Filipinos to take to the streets and oppose Duterte’s economic and political policies,” he said.
Meanwhile, labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) condemned Duterte’s tirades against the group in his televised interview.
Duterte, in his interview, blamed the KMU for the increase in strikes claiming that it scares investors away. In a statement, KMU chairperson Elmer Labog said the right to strike is a universal workers’ right guaranteed by international and domestic laws.
“The upsurge of workers’ strikes these past months are results of Duterte’s failure to end contractualization, refusal to address the rising prices of commodities by implementing a significant wage hike and the government’s fascist attacks against trade union and human rights,” Labog said in a statement.
The United People’s Action, a broad unity of diverse groups that is organizing the Sept. 21 Luneta rally, believes that Duterte’s claim of a destabilization plot against him is an ‘old excuse of leaders trying to skirt accountability.”
“It is typical of the Duterte regime to see destabilization as behind the Filipino people’s cry for political, economic and social justice. The regime could not bear cries for justice because the hallmark of its governance is injustice,” it said in a statement.
It added that Duterte’s allegation of destabilization plot is only a distraction to justify its plan of establishing a revolutionary government, the change of the Constitution or expansion of martial law.
The group said resisting tyranny is not destabilization, as well as upholding human rights and calling for economic relief.
“There is no ‘massive destabilization’ on September 21. There is only a united stand against dictatorship, then and now,” the group said.
