Journalism students and campus publications from University of the Philippines Diliman held a protest on Nov. 20 reiterating the importance of press freedom in light of the 16th year of the Maguindanao Massacre.

“One less journalist is one less truth teller,” said Edelweiss Nazal of UJP-UP. “This is a threat to our democracy. Patuloy tayong magsusulat at magbabalita.”

Student oragnizations from UP that joined the protest and candle lighting include UP Journalism Club, UP Solidaridad, Philippine Collegian, and The Manila Collegian among others.
