Some 50 members of Kontra Daya and Concerned Citizens trooped to the Philippine International Convention Center, June 1 and attended a Holy Mass at the building’s lobby.
Kontra Daya spokesperson Fr. Joe Dizon celebrated the Mass around 11 a.m.
Before the Mass, the security at the PICC tightened. Policemen surrounded the participants assembled at the lobby. Others who came a little late for the Mass did not manage to get inside the PICC compound.
Dizon said, “Let us implore the power of the Lord so that the evils in the world, especially in our nation, be driven out.”
Dizon added, “There has been so much fraud, so much violence in the 2007 elections. Despite the vigilance of the media and of the Filipino people, the evil has not stopped…they trample upon the rights of the people.”
Before ending the Mass, Dizon asked the participants to turn toward the canvassing area. He led them in chanting, “Evils, Go Away! Demons, Go Away! The Followers of Satan, Go Away!”
Among those present were Maria Flor Querubin, wife of Col. Ariel Querubin; Atty. Josie Lichauco, Bettina Legarda, Dr. Carol Araullo and Renato Reyes Jr. of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan. (Bulatlat.com)
