Slideshow: Corazon de Jesus residents defend their homes from demolition
January 13, 2012

In this slideshow, residents defend their homes from city-led demolition team from destroying their homes and livelihood. They stood their ground with only stones, bottles, pillboxes and molotov bombs at hand.

When the police finally managed to break their barricades, using water canon, a bulldozer and teargas, residents scampered to save their belongings.

Meanwhile, youth and students who were holding their indignation rally, condemning the arrest and detention of residents and activists who resisted the demolition, were quickly dispersed by the police. As they were retreating, four more were reportedly arrested. (Text and photos by Janess Ann J. Ellao) (https://www.bulatlat.org)
