In this age of computers and electronics, this woman still cooks the old way: with the use of firewood and blowing at the embers to make the flames stronger. This photo was taken not in a remote area in one of the Philippine provinces, but in the heart of Metro Manila, in Sitio Payong, Old Balara, Quezon City, in the area between the Diliman campus of the University of the Philippines and Miriam College. And the photo is not too old either, it was taken in 2006.
