Results of the latest IBON nationwide survey showed that majority of Filipinos believe poll automation will not address the problem of alleged electoral fraud.

Of the 85.4% respondents who are aware of the poll automation program, 63% believe that it will not solve fraud in the upcoming elections. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will implement poll automation nationwide for the first time in the 2010 elections with the aim of minimizing electoral fraud.

The share of respondents who think that automation will not address electoral fraud increased from 56.5% in the last survey round in October 2009.

IBON conducted its nationwide survey on January 9-17 among 1,495 respondents. The January 2010 survey used a multi-stage probability sampling scheme and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.

Below is the tabulation of results of respondents’ perception on poll automation.

Are you aware of the Commission on Election’s (COMELEC) poll automation program intended for the upcoming 2010 elections?

In your opinion, will poll automation address the problem of alleged electoral fraud?
