With the impending lifting of the price cap on oil products, the oil companies in the Philippines, particularly the so-called Big Three – which have been complaining of losses supposedly arising from the price cap even as they have been enjoying superprofits from years of overprice – will again be having the time of their lives. What was a barrier, albeit a temporary one, to their untrammeled raking in of profits at the expense of Filipino consumers, will be out of the way.
