The impeachment case against Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez is still in its initial stages, but presidential spouse Mike Arroyo has been quick to come to her defense, and seems hell-bent on fighting for her at all cost. In so doing, he has alluded to their being law school batchmates. But is that all there is to it? Gutierrez, who has been accused of “coddling the rich and powerful”, has been slow to act on the cases filed before her office – particularly those involving the presidential spouse.
