As prices of basic products and services continue to increase, national labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno asked the public to participate in the “Protestang Bayan vs. Nagtataasang Presyo at Demolisyon.” Holding of protests is the only way Filipinos can have the chance of preventing price hikes and demolition of poor communities, Roger Soluta, KMU secretary-general, said in a statement.

The youth group Anakbayan expressed support for the whistleblower who exposed the existence of a U.S 'Internet spying' program, and called on Philippine government employees to do the same regarding Internet and communications surveillance likely being done by the Aquino administration.

During the 2010 elections, 16-percent of reports to Kontradaya involved PCOS machines; this election, it made up three of every five reports to KontraDaya.
