Migrante International criticized the Aquino administration's crisis management -- from the repatriation of OFWs to simply responding to the calls via their hotline numbers -- as slow and inept. The group challenged the government to provide more than just livelihood assistance in dealing with jobless OFWs who would be flocking the country in the coming days.

There are 25,737 Filipinos in Libya, working as medical workers, professors or skilled workers. Most of them, Migrante International said, are caught between the riots and are clueless as to how they would be brought out safely from Libya.
The Philippine government should by all means protect Filipinos in trouble abroad, and see to it that their rights are respected. Even more fundamentally, should it put its own house in order, and create the conditions at home that will provide its citizens the means to sustain themselves in the present and to guarantee their future. Today, Feb. 22, the workers at the largest plantation and cannery in the Philippines will hold a union election. The incumbent KMU-affiliated union, Amado-Kadena, is fighting to retain its dominance even as Dole Philippines uses a pro-management faction of the union against it while the US company, its allies and the military vilify and harass the union's members and officers.
OFWs on Death Row and the Aquino Gov't
In a press conference held on Saturday at the Migrante International office, families of OFWs in death row and in jail appealed to the Philippine government to also act in haste for their relatives.
