The Arroyo administration continues trying to evade justice, especially in the light of the new impeachment complaint against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Supreme Court decision pointing to the culpability of the AFP in the case of the abduction and torture of the Manalo brothers and the enforced disappearance of UP students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño, and farmer Manuel Merino. It goes on trying to escape responsibility for its many offenses against the nation and the people by asking the public to “wait” for the 2010 elections, and not to distract it from its supposed measures to address the impact on the country of the financial crisis, which it helped bring about in the first place through its subservience to the neoliberal agenda.
