Poor Peasant Family Day | Gaano kahirap ang mahihirap?
October 14, 2018

MANILA — How are farmers and fisherfolks, the country’s poorest sectors reeling from the effects of rising inflation?

On Oct. 13, farmers and their families engaged in a ‘Hunger Games-like’ contest for survival to illustrate how the poor live each day amid the rising prices of basic necessities. They held games like Duter-Darts, NFA Sack Race, Sili Relay, Tumbang Presyo, Whack The Boss and many more. This is part of the month-long activities for the Peasant Month.

Social Weather Stations’ survey last September said more than 12.2 million Filipino consider themselves poor while a high 36% label themselves as ‘food poor.’
