Awit kay Steve Jobs

Ni RICHARD R. GAPPI
Salin sa Ingles ni ARIS REMOLLINO

Mansanas,
ang alangaang;
ang gitna ng sanga at balat ng daigdig.
At ang sinumang nais kumagat
ay hindi naghihintay
ng batak ng halubigat*
kundi hatak ng palad.
O tipa ng daliring nagliliyab
na ang mitsa ng init
ay nasa sulok ng isip
kung saan posporo ito,
kasingpula ng mansanas,
nag-aapoy.

Hugis-puso.

Tinutupok ang daigdig
na nakasandig sa bukbok.
At mula sa alabok,
na singgaan at nipis nito,
nagbabanyuhay ang iral
ng isip at lakas.

Tulad ng pinipitas na bayabas,
laging bukás ang búkas.

Ang alangaang.

Song for Steve Jobs
By Richard R. Gappi
(Translated by Aris Remollino)

Apple,
the space;
the center branch, the skin of the world.
And whoever wishes to partake of it
waits not
for the pull of gravity–
rather, they pick it with their hand.
Or strike with a burning finger
whose source of heat
resides in the corner of the mind,
where it is a spark
as red as the apple,
blazing red.

Heart-shaped.

It burns through a world
leaning on the breast of decay.
And from its ashes,
thin and light in itself,
rises the reign
of wisdom and strength.

Like a guava freshly picked
infinitely racing towards the infinite future.

The space.
